Awful!! Go to a different location simply because of the stupidity of the management! I called in an order 15 minutes before arriving and they still made me wait in the line for people needing to order. My bagels were ready, sitting there and they wouldn't let me pay until we waited in line. It just doesn't make sense and the workers didn't even have a good reason other than, " people were taking advantage". Why even have the option of calling in an order!!!!
(1)William W.
Some of the freshest bagels in L.A. with a selection that has something for everyone. Family friendly as well as dog friendly. You can kick it on the patio if you like. Does get a bit busy on weekends. Maybe because they got Dat Stuff!
(4)Morris P.
FYI - if you order an assortment of bagels, they will not put the onion/garlic ones in a separate bag (unless you ask).
(3)Danielle M.
They have pretty good bagels here... But the service is really bad and you will wait in line for over 20 minutes. It doesn't make sense! There's always at lest 6-8 employees behind the counter. Management needs to get it together at this location!
(2)Elizabeth K.
Decent bagels, but the service and cleanliness of the store are questionable. Also, get it to go because the actual restaurant is terribly lit and sort of depressing. They do have a patio though, but not much direct sunlight.
(2)David W.
Getting served a bagel by a Vietnamese girl is certainly about as L.A. as it gets.
(4)Emma B.
Their bagels may be delicious, but the service at this location is terrible. As someone who worked at a bagel shop before, it is inexcusable that they can NEVER get my order right. I honestly do not see how it's so confusing to order something with half of one spread and half another. I ordered cucumbers once, was asked three times if I wanted cucumbers or tomatoes and still received tomatoes. I hate tomatoes! I have honestly never had a good experience here, which is a shame because their product is good and they're so close to my house.
(2)Franklin M.
Good bagels which tasted fresh. We always order garlic bagels with lightly spread cream cheese, perfect flavor, with perfect service.
(4)Lori A.
Today I tried lox for the first time. The bagel (plain ) was very fresh. The salmon not too fishy and was fresh. The lox was 4 stars but the coffee was 2. It seemed watered down. At 7am coffee is the most imporant thing!!
(3)Anthony A.
Best Bagels in the game! I've been coming here for 20 years and the cream cheese is the best. One of the only bagel stores to serve HOT turkey. It's sooooo delicious!! Staff is very warm and welcoming too!
(5)Philip N.
I'm a fan of the bagels, but parking can be a nightmare, especially in the morning when everyone is trying to turn on Coldwater Canyon. Overall, a solid experience and I will definitely be going back for bagels!
(4)Ethan B.
Great bagels! Service is good as well. I have been coming here for years and really cant say a bad thing about this place.
(5)Rob A.
Best bagels, good and friendly staff, open late, what more could you want? Only thing bad is parking sometimes but otherwise great.
(5)Ella B.
My boyfriend and I love this place. We usually come on Sundays either in the late mornings or early afternoons. He loves the Traditional and I enjoy just a plain toasted sesame seed bagel. We like being able to sit inside near the front where we can see out the windows and people watch. It's always a special day when we go and we end up having some sort of adventure afterwards. It's fun bringing friends with us when they visit. Hoping to go again soon on a Sunday.
(5)Timothy Michael G.
They made my day! Leaving work at 5:00 am in the morning." I needed just something small and quick to eat before bed! They really just made my morning! I had my favorite sun dried tomato bagel with cream cheese, tomato slices, capers and lemon juice on top! The best! Love you guys!!
(5)Jordan H.
Best coffee and bagels!!!!!! People are super nice and prices are fair. Store is very clean and a good atmosphere. I will drive out of my way to get this coffee
(5)Nathreen W.
Yummy bagels, delicious cream cheese, great service, love love love this place. I love the choice of bagel types and flavors. It can get busy at times but so far we've been able to fit in-between those times. I recommend everything....
(5)London T.
I live down the street from one of these and I hit it up quite often. Everything Cheese, Onion Cheese, and Onion are all tasty. The chicken salad sandwich and turkey sandwich are also good.
(4)Jackie J.
I had just finished an hours-long salon appointment and knew I had a long drive home during rush hour traffic. I just wanted something to tide me over until I got home. I've always liked Western Bagel and was happy this one was close-by. I ordered a coffee and an Everything Bagel with grape jelly. The coffee was good, but the bagel was burnt. Also... I had expected my bagel to be buttered, but I guess in Western Bagel, one needs to stipulate everything. I can understand that. It's a custom bagel place, so my bad. The shop was clean, the accoutrements counter was clean. The order-taker was friendly. I would have been happier with a non-burnt bagel, but it was ok for a pit stop.
(3)Daryl S.
Being from the East Coast, I LOVE me some bagels!! When I moved to CA it was probably the thing I was most disappointed about with food wise. I had my husband bring a bagel from NJ on the plane and we then bought a bagel from Western Bagel and did a blind taste test. My husband guessed incorrectly, but I did not. I still prefer my NJ bagel. But, as CA bagels go, Western Bagel is my favorites. Try the Everything Bagel (ET on the East Coast) or the round baily. The coffee is hit or miss... The line can get long on the weekends. Parking is is free in the back or in the underground parking lot.
(4)Scotty W.
So I've been here before for breakfast but never I think for lunch. I'm not usually around a Western Bagel at lunchtime nor do I think of Western Bagel when it comes time to eat something around lunchtime so the stars just happened to be aligned perfectly today I guess and things worked out. I was in the area with a friend running some errands and he suggested that we stop in here for a quick bite and I'm glad we did. I originally was looking to get a roasted turkey hot bagel sandwich but the server girl explained that they were out. So I went to my next fail safe... pastrami. OMG! It was amazing too and I'm so glad they didn't have turkey after all. Haha! And the mustard they used there on the pastrami was like nothing I'd ever tasted before... delicious! The store was nice and clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend eating here for breakfast, brunch or lunch and I too will back!

No matter the legal code...I think it should be absolutely criminal to be a place that (a) serves coffee and simultaneously (b) does not have a bathroom. I can think of no deeper restaurant torture. Well. Maybe water boarding. But besides that. Nothing. The bagels are OK...but as I am from the west coast, I feel kind of lumped into some sort of backhanded slam: Western Bagels (western of what, I'm not sure) are not what I would call AMAZING...they actually just look kind of sad. Everything is west of something else, I suppose (that's deep, yo), but my feeling is that someone from the east coast moved here, created Western Bagel, and is silently laughing every time someone buys one: "I can't believe they buy this, crap...stupid westerners." All this being said, I have still been here three or four times...they have GREAT hours and always, Always, ALWAYS have had some sort of a freak show of a patron ordering in front of me. Now, while I *am* from the west coast, I am not from Hollywood/LA...so the entertainment alone of watching somebody trying to order bagels when he/she is coked up out of his/her mind is great: "I'll have a unicorn bagel with a side of Owen Wilson, please. And don't give me Luke Wilson again...I nearly puked last time, bro." I just hope these people don't need to pee...because then, Western Bagel....then you are going to have a "I am on drugs, hungry, and now caffeinated up" type of argument. Nobody wants that. Well...maybe I do.
(3)Claudine M.
To be honest, I visited this place due to convenience. It was the closest bagel shop to the hiking trail my friends and I just completed, so I figured I give it a chance. Upon entry, I see a long winding line for bagels at 10 in the morning. While it was technically still early, I just cannot comprehend why there would be a line... Unless the bagels were really extraordinary. Fortunately, the line went by really quick and I was able to order a Jalapeño cheese everything bagel with egg. I give them 3 stars for being very accommodating of my order. I dock the location 2 stars because of the long wait to get my order and the bagel was a too salty and surprisingly too greasy. For waiting as long as I have, I expected the food to be well made, especially since it was simply a bagel, but it definitely fell short to my expectation. I will only try this place again if it is conveniently close to me.
(3)Nanor Q.
Reading some of the comments below was actually pretty annoying. I've been a regular at this Western Bagel location for 2.5 years, and it's ALWAYS BUSY. The a/c doesn't even work during the summer (which is very dumb idk how these employees are allowed to work with no a/c), but the workers are still running around and doing their best to serve everyone as quickly as they can. I guess I'm just lucky, the workers have always been so sweet & my order has always been perfect. I now know which times to go at so that I can avoid the rush. Other customers, for the most part, are the rude ones and exemplify the reason I hate LA sometimes. I'd love it if they'd bring in almond milk as an additional bonus lol!!
(5)Marconi de M.
Yes, bagels are good, but once you tried the real deal in NY, it's not fair to compare. Also I was expecting more on the cream cheese.
(3)Miriam E.
My favorite in town, I LOVE it!
(5)Matthew F.
Best bagels in the valley. Been going here since I was a Junior at Harvard Westlake School down the road. Still the same quality and deliciousness from 9 years back!
(5)Andy S.
Great bagels but the person that waited on us from behind the counter was not too friendly
(2)Shaun W.
So I came here a coupla hours ago with my sister for lunch. So awesome. Sat outside... nice sunny day. The things that stuck out were the Strawberry Bagel with Strawberry Cream Cheese... so fricking good. Absolutely amazing!!! And my money-maker... the Onion Cheese bagel with Lox and Salmon Cream Cheese!!! Heavenly. My sis got a Plain Bagel with Cream Cheese & Sundried Tomato bagel with Herb & Garlic Cream Cheese. Amazingness!!!
(5)Self O.
Excellent bagels, great sandwiches, nice, quiet space, real iced tea, nice, low key staff. It's not fair to give them one star because they don't have gluten free bagels, as one review did. They have lots of kinds of bagels but not everything in the entire world that anyone might want. It's their business. They get to choose the product mix.
(5)Joe K.
I come here every morning for breakfast and I couldn't be happier with the service, food, and the location. Finally got on here and left these guys the love they deserve..
(5)Atago A.
Every time i go here i don't get what i order. And it's always the same guy who takes my order. Some guy with a white polo shirt with a stupid looking mustache. I believe he's a shift leader or asst. manager. I stop going here because of that.
(1)Wayne S.
My favorite Western Bagel in the Valley because of the outdoor seating - they will take your order out to you. And they bake their bagels on site. Also a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf right there. Not the most attentive service however. It took awhile for the bagels to get out and my friend's order was off, apparently half his bagel was of the alternative kind.
(4)Yanna A.
i go to this place several times a week, its right across the street from my work. they are usually always busy especially on the weekends so i always call and place my order over the phone, come to the front and pay for it. on Saturday i came in and did my same routine. I came up to the front to pay, the girl behind the register said please go wait at the end of the line (about 10 people in line). She said we have one line for orders and paying. so i wait about 20 minutes in line to have 10 people ahead of me order their bagels, by the time i get to the front another lady helps me, when i said i already placed an order and its ready she rang me up, My bagel was cold and soggy after waiting that long. Why would it make sense for a customer to stand in line and wait for others to place an order when i can simply pay and go if my order is ready? beats me! Not only was the staff rude about it, but they kind of laughed it off as if it was funny. Don't take phone orders if your still going to make me wait twice as long to pay for it. BAGELS AND FOOD IS GREAT, STAFF NOT SO MUCH. LEARN TO APPRECIATE YOUR REGULARS!
(2)Tiffany G.
Delicious bagels, pretty busy on weekends though so prepare for a wait. If your going to get a bagel with cream cheese, you might as well get another bagel without because they pile it on! My favorite is their Cheese Bagel- Yum!
(4)Emily W.
Love this place. Good prices and a friendly staff. The food is always fresh and they bring it to your table. Lots of different selections of bagels. Only downfall is parking can be a pain, on the weekday afternoons anyways. Also their drink machine goes out a lot.
(4)La R.
One star for not carrying gluten free bagels. Jump on the bandwagon already! Gluten intolerant people would like to enjoy a bagel sometimes too! Sooo annoying.
(1)Lisa S.
I come to this place often since it's so close to my work, there is NO OTHER bagel place for me to even choose from so I really don't have a choice. I usually come around 8am, like today and always pretty busy which is fine. However, I ordered a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel the roll thingy with no hole and they gave me some COMPLETELY WRONG bagel I don't even know what it was. To add to that they took about 15 minutes to even get my incorrect bagel order, after all 5 people behind me in line got theirs already and left and I was the only one left in the store. Obviously, this was just a bad morning since I believe they forgot my order and then gave me the wrong one. I don't assume this will happen every time, but until I go back is when I'll update my review. I'm going to call/or go back to the store to at least give them a chance to fix their mistake, so I'll keep you posted on how it gets handled. After all everyone makes mistakes, it's how they handle it after is what counts. Customer Service is EVERYTHING!
(1)AlterEg O.
Great bagels but horribly disorganized - confusing lines, sometimes pulling a number is needed then not - on weekends there can be a really long wait because of the chaos behind the counter (everyone seems to be running around, taking orders, preparing food, all at once - no streamlined system or assigned work stations to speed this up). Moving the order counter to either side for orders to eat in and bagels to go would help separate the lines and people jam right by the entrance, refraining from using the obnoxiously loud and distorted PA system to announce order numbers ready for pickup would make this place much less annoying (if someone has not received their order yet they will guaranteed come look for it after a while, all by themselves - no need to yell and make it distressingly unpleasant to eat on site; also the order numbers don't really help, it's better to mention what the order is or the name of the person that placed the order). Generally speaking an interior decor makeover could turn this into a great brunch place and up business - there is plenty of space but it currently looks cold, old and uninviting. Then again, the bagels and variety are great!
(3)Candace L.
Yummy fresh bagels, my son and I have stopped by this Western Bagel location a few times for a morning bagel. Service can be a bit slow at times and a bit disorganized with customers all over but the bagels are always fresh and tasty. The coffee/ lattes are not my fav - many people go to the Coffee Bean a couple doors down for their coffee and stop in here for their breakfast. Free parking in back, metered parking out front. Indoor and outdoor seating.
(3)Kara M.
Called in an order for pick up and saw it sitting on the counter. There was a huge line of people ordering bagels and an open cash register. Asked to pay for it and had to wait in line for 10 minutes while my order sat there. Why do they offer pick up as an option if you still have to wait in line? Also, this place always takes forever!!!
(1)Aram S.
Been coming here for years and can honestly say it is one of the best bagels I've ever had. They have a great selection of bagels and also make delicious sandwiches (egg sandwiches are amazing!). Only downside to this place is that it can be on the pricier side for bagels. Nonetheless, a MUST try!
(4)Joe C.
You can't beat western bagel. Tasty bagels , delicious food, great coffee and drinks. Lox spread is only a couple of bucks orange juice or milk is under two dollars. This is my favorite western bagel in the valley because of the friendly and efficient staff-who will bring your order to the outside seating area if you are seated out there. THE STAFF IS VERY ATTENTIVE TO CUSTOMER'S NEEDS AND ARE VERY EAGER TO SERVE. THANKS A LOT GUYS!
(5)Catherine S.
After literally cleaning up crap all night, this morning, and after work I realized Western Bagel's 245 calorie sandwich was pretty much the best thing that happened to me today. I can't believe I forgot about Western Bagel. I totally love their alternative bagels that only have 110 calories each. I needed that after this past weekend! My poor dog, Benny, is sick and he did the worst possible thing to you know whose white carpet. It was probably 3am and I ended up stepping in it because I am blind! Imagine trying to get a hold of your glasses with crap on your foot! So, I cleaned it up - shoved Ben in the bathroom and tried to get some sleep before my 5am alarm clock went off. After snoozing for one hour I rushed into the bathroom to step in it again!!!! My gawd! Ben had to stay in the bathroom all day. After work I made sure to look first before I stepped. Good thing, because he did it again. Poor guy! Tomorrow off to the vet. Gotta go, because I have to figure out how I am going to transport a stool sample. Ugh, makes me not want to eat anymore. Pictures on my blog... not of the poop, of the bagel!
(4)Jeff K.
There are very few reasonably priced places left to eat breakfast in the Studio City area. Western Bagel at the corner of Coldwater Canyon and Ventura Blvd is an exception. Between signing up for the weekly special via email called Brad's deal or just enjoying a Traditional for $7.50 that includes an oven fresh bagel toasted or not with lox, cream cheese, lettuce , tomato, onions, and capers you cannot go wrong . The staff at this location is first rate. The coffee even though there is a Coffee, Bean and Tea Leaf in the same complex is equally delicious . For $10 or much less you can have an enjoyable meal. If you like fresh bagels , quality lox, cream cheese and ingredients this is the place to go . They also have free wifi.
(5)Rachel F.
Best bagels in the valley, in my opinion. Fresh, soft, yum!
(4)Ethan S.
Seemed pretty bare and vapid, but the bagel was good, and I guess that's what counts. I wasn't helped for a while because there was only 1 cashier who was busy and didn't seem very enthusiastic, but I can't blame that. One of what looked like might have been the chef(?) or bagel cooker(?) came out and helped me. He knew what he was doing and made my tuna bagel himself right after I ordered it from him. They don't take American Express, too, which sucks.
(3)Nicole A.
When I'm really hungry and in a rush to work, I'll end up at Western Bagel. I really like this location as it's close and the service is great. I ended up in the wrong line and the girl behind the counter was so sweet about it. Additionally, they are always really fast about preparing my meal. So fattening, but an egg bagel with cream cheese is delicious.
(4)Laura B.
Delicious bagels, horrible service! They are slow when its slow and slow when its busy. They don't acknowledge you when you walk up and will continue to do whatever it is they are doing while you stand there awkwardly. They are also rude when they mess up your order and will talk under their breath as if you owe them something for fixing it.
(2)Carol B.
I used to love going to this western bagel and so when I needed a quick bite to eat i remembered their great turkey sandwiches. Stopped in and the young lady who was behind the counter had her back turned to the cash register so it took her about 5 minutes to realize i was standing there waiting while she ate her lunch on the counter. I felt bad interrupting her but she said it was ok and for me to place my order. I ordered a turkey sandwich with lettuce, mayo and cheese and a side. While i waited another customer came in so i stepped aside to let them be helped. After they were helped she went back to making my sandwich. I noticed that there was no hot turkey and i didn't see her go into the fridge to get cold turkey, but i thought may be when i wasn't paying attention she got the turkey. As she handed me the bag i asked "This is the turkey sandwich right?" and she responded with "yup that's the turkey sandwich" pointing at the bag. Got to the office to eat my "turkey sandwich". Instead of making the sandwich i asked for she put cream cheese, lettuce, american cheese and MAYO together with NO TURKEY MEAT what so ever. She looked in my eyes and blatantly lied to me and made pay for a sandwich i did not get. I believe her name was Lindsy. She could have been honest and told me there was no turkey meat left but instead she lied and just put whatever she wanted together to give me a sandwich. I would say that's pretty HORRIBLE service and needless to say i will NOT be going back to this Western Bagel.
(1)Richard S.
I like their bagels, don't get me wrong but I've noticed a few things. They've done away with their punch card. They now give you a rewards card, not nearly the value. They've recently increased their prices, no longer have a bakers dozen. What's going on?
(3)Eli S.
Best bagels I've had in LA. My favorites: onion, cinnamon raisin, sesame, plain. If you just need bagels, you can't do better (and you can be in and out fairly quickly). If you want them to make something ( say a toasted bagel with cream cheese), be prepared to wait a bit because they're a little slow.
(4)Ari A.
Bagels are always fresh
(4)jori m.
Was so excited to find that they had pumpkin bagels and pumpkin cream cheese when I was here the other day (in October). But it wasn't as tasty as I've had at other places. Decent though, and friendly service, good location, nice ambiance. I would probably come back (nice that they are right next to Coffee Bean) but would get some other bagel with plain cream cheese. Can't go wrong that way!
(3)Drew B.
Love the everything with cheese. Service can sometimes be slow and inefficient.
(3)Carly A.
Amazing bagels, and fresh deli sandwiches!!!!!!!!!! I love this place because its a small family owned business and I'd rather support the small business owner than the big corp any day, i.e. Noahs Bagels...YUCK!
(5)Chris O.
Not the best bagel ever but not bad, way better than Noah's I think. Service is a bit slow here and not well organized.
(3)Roman G.
Let me start by saying they have CHEAP dozens. Good for keeping frozen at home. I love their everything cheese, cheese, sesame, poppy seeds bagels. But they also have more that are delicious. These are one of the best bagels that I have eaten, other than Noah's bagels. There have been times where I've been there and the staff was inexperienced and other times when their service was great. I usually come here and get the dozen and then they give me the extra "#13" and I eat it there. I usually get cream cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. I always buy their delicious cream cheese for my home. Oh and before I forget...Pizza bagels for 1 dollar! Amazing. They charge a little too much on drinks though. So I normally get water. I get a Naked drink whenever I feel like having a nice smoothie with breakfast but it's about four dollars!! I can buy the big one for 6 dollars at costco, come on. Parking can suck. The parking is behind the complex, but each spot is a compact spot and so many people with big cars park there.

Best Bagels in town
(4)Em. T.
Western Bagel has been good to me. I LOVE their cheese bagels. Their everything cheese are delicious as well. I'm not going to pretend this is the best bagel I've ever had in my life (gotta reserve that for C&C bagel from my childhood days...) but Western Bagel is pretty darn tasty. We used to get these at my work and everyone would scramble for the cheese bagels. Once you toast them up, the cheese gets all crispy and crunch...seriously delicious. The only thing is these bagels are a bit inconsistent. Sometimes they come out tasting a little funny or off. It's really weird, actually. However, I would say the bagels are solid about 90% of the time. And I literally ate their cheese bagels daily for about a year. Since my work moved to a new location we no longer get Western Bagels, but I've driven there myself once or twice. I had to wait about 10 minutes or so before my order was taken, but then the bagel was made promptly. As addicting as the bagels can be, they clearly don't have a hold over my life, as I've only driven there twice in the past 8 months since being cut off at work. And it's not THAT far out of the way...maybe an additional 30 minutes onto my morning commute (counting waiting in line, etc). These bagels are good, but I can't help but think there has to be a better independent bagel place nearby. Would I recommend these bagels to others? Absolutely. Will I break my bank due to my addiction? Nope.
(3)M H.
Bagels are good, but being from NY they are not NYC bagels... That said, you have to try their chocolate chip danish! As long as they keep prices low its a great deal. Their bagel spread is expensive though.
(4)Travelling G.
We always have their bagels in our freezer, whenever we run out, we come down the hill and buy ourselves a few bags worth again. They are just about the best bagels anywhere this side of the Hudson. And they freeze beautifully.
(5)Ashley C.
Again, another place that is super close and convenient. However, they've burned my bagel numerous times and tried to cover it up with massive amounts of cream cheese. The few times they managed to crisp it just right, they still gave me WAY too much cream cheese. Okay, so I decided the next time I came I'd tell them to go easy on the cream cheese. Got my bagel...no difference. I now have to tell them to just leave it off the bagel and give me a side of the cream cheese instead. I've come at different times...in the morning when it's crazy busy, in the middle of the afternoon when it's dead, on the weekends when kids are screaming and coughing in your face, etc...and they never seem to have a good system going for their line. There is an "express" line, and a normal one, I think. No one knows which one to get into. Some people cut the lines altogether and just march up to the counter and order. It's just weird and a bit of a cluster****. They're not the best bagels in the world, but they're good. I enjoy the cheese bagels, toasted, with just a little cream cheese.
(3)AJ L.
Stopped in here yesterday morning and picked up five bagels. The chaos in the store was strange in spite of the fact only two of us were at the counter. Every bagel they bagged for me was incorrect which was weird. They were also rock hard! It's okay though. I've always wanted a breakfast that could double as a lethal weapon...
(2)Mark D. S.
1st of all, being japanese & growing up in South Central Los Angeles, bagels were never on the menu at my or any neighbors house. i never had bagels til my early 20's... when i started to eat bagels, i went to the Noah's, next to the House of Billiards on Cedros & Ventura. they made awesome bagel concoctions, mainly my favorite, the plain bagel with melted provolone on top w/sun dried tomato... yum..! anyway, back to this joint... so i order a cheese & onion bagel with tomato, avocado & red onion with my cream cheese ON THE SIDE...! why on the side you ask...? because I LIKE TO ADD MY OWN AMOUNT PER EACH BITE...! but when i checked my bag, there wasnt any cream cheese...! it was written on that paper they use for the orders, CREAM CHEESE ON THE SIDE...! so the girl says she put in the bagel... i told her i asked for the cream cheese on the side. she looks at that paper & then looks at me like I FUCKED UP & says she'll re-do it... i told her its ok, im hungry & she turned away... did she offer an apology...? NOPE...! anyway, like i said, the bagels, i suppose are good, seeing i have never been to NY for their awesome, super special water recipe bagels... 2 stars for the constant messing up on my order & not reading the paper with my request for CREAM CHEESE ON THE SIDE..! eat well my frenz & get your bagel from Noah's...
(2)John C.
Worst bagel shop ever. Avoid at all costs. My plain bagel tasted like cardboard, the tomato was flavorless and limp, and the cream cheese was dabbled on it like a popcorn paint job on a ceiling. The service was so horrendous that I don't know where to begin. Every single employee in this shop is awful, including the manager. How do I know this given that I've only been there twice? Because both times I went there it took me 20 minutes to order and receive 2 bagels. Are you frigging kidding me?! Oh, and $5.10 for 2 bagels with cream cheese is highway robbery. Terrible, just terrible.
(1)J B.
A super busy place and the staff was fair except the manager (reason for the one star review). I came in for one bagel, waited my turn for about 10-15 minutes and was so excited when it was finally my turn. I looked at the manager who just yelled "next!" while looking at me. Uh, excuse me? I told him I was next and he told me that he couldn't help me because he was running the "express lane" even though, just a moment earlier, he helped another customer with almost the same order as me (toasted bagel with cream cheese). Even the guy behind me told the manager that I was next and had been waiting. He just yelled at us that he was running the express lane and could NOT help me. He then proceeded to help the guy behind me while I waited another 5 minutes for the team member to come back to her post. I didn't know even to order because she made no eye contact with me or any verbal recognition that she was ready. Eventually, she looked up at me with a sour look that I hadn't ordered yet and was almost "wasting her time". I will never go here again. Good bagels, poor service.

Thank you Western Bagel for serving the freshest bagels in town! We stop by your store and then head to Jerry's for fresh Nova Lox! Sunday morning routine! :)

I've heard that the reason why bagels in NY taste so much better is because of the water there. Here's my solution for Western: Either stop making bagels or start importing that Catskills Mountains water running through NYC's veins! I will gladly pay 2 even 3 times more for a bagel that doesn't taste like a 2-day old piece of cardboard that passed through an oven. If I'm going to invest in 500 calories and 5 servings of carbs, I'm looking for that crunchy-on-the-outside,chewy-on-the-inside flavor that makes a bagel stand out from other bread types. Do they even boil their bagels here? But hey, I guess they're not falsely advertising with a name like Western 'cause these bagels sure don't taste like they're Eastern!

Good bagels, nice staff, good coffee, etc. It's a solid bagel joint. Reviewers need to be honest... we're talking about a bagel shop, not a patisserie on the Champs-Élysées. The food here is always consistently good and a good value for your buck. Most of the staff are very nice, especially a man name Manny. He was VERY helpful, VERY VERY kind and gave the kind of customer service that people should get all over the world. The cappuccino-chip muffins are also verrrry delicious.

By far the best in the chain when compared to woodland hills and encino. i love their everything bagels. All locations have good quality lox and given plenty of it on your bagel. Plenty of outdoor seating, so our dog can have breakfast with us (he likes to sit in the sun). the crowds are too big in encino and the service in woodland hills... well, if you read other yelp reviews it's obviously it not just me... also recommend taking home a chocolate croissant- it's not light and flaky like a traditional croissant, but damn it's good.

The Cafe Mocha is good! The bagels are good as well, everything is good. ONLY thing that is okay is the service, the workers are a little slow (which is annoying when your trying to get to work on time) a few of them are a good, but every time I need to rush things up, I get stuck with a slow one...-__-.

Now first things first--I must give an opinion in regards to the previous couple of reviews. This Western Bagel absolutely can be chaotic, absolutely can cause a significant wait (especially Saturday and Sunday mornings), and due to the often young inexperienced staff mistakes can be made. But this doesn't even matter one bit to me because their bagels are the BEST. I will go and skip over twelve screaming brats and 5 family golden retrievers everyday to have my favorite--an everything bagel with reduced fat cream cheese, tomato, open-face. Their everything bagels aren't destroyed by a whole bunch of rye seeds like Noah's bagels but rather coated on both the top AND bottom with the most savory mixture of garlic, poppy seeds, onion, salt, and sesame seeds. The bagels themselves aren't too dense like many bagels out there and always cause the ever so rare audible yum. And on a service note once more, regulars in Western Bagel are treated with the utmost speedy delivery and kindness. Given that I am in that category even despite the chaos, I always see a friendly face who knows exactly what I want and can get it to me fast. I've had this breakfast every day for years and that won't stop anytime soon.

Western Bagels are my favorite bagels!!!! However... the service is really slow in this location. But the bagels are always so yummy!

I have been eating lunch here for the past couple of weeks, and the bagels are really fresh and they toast them to perfection. Not allot of "atmosphere" here because it is in a mini mall, however the food is delish. I mostly chow on the whitefish sandwich and "traditional" (lox sandwich). They also have a lox spread for only $2.

I came here by default as the Manhattan Bagel shop in Studio City is closed until Labor Day weekend. I really wanted a pumpernickel bagel, there were two left so I bought them and took them home. After toasting and buttering I tasted one and nearly spit it out. Tasted nothing like I expected and was very dry, like cardboard. Worst bagel I ever ate, the only reason I finished it was because I was hungry . I will wait for Manhattan Bagel to reopen for sure. At least they know how to make a delicious bagel.

The bagels are okay but the service is absolutely atrocious. It is such an unorganized mess so prepare for a long wait to place your order, inefficient operation behind the counter, a clump of patrons (including yourself) trying to figure out what is going on, and slow service. It may be worth the trip to Manhattan Bagel down the street.

Lots of bagel choices!! But...... iit doesn't matter because they kinda choose how they want to "re-create" your order. I went with 2 other people. They managed to screw up each of our bagels. Wrong type of bagel, wrong cream cheese, wrong veggies. How do i put this...um.... its a bagel. Not too tricky. We drove off and got to thinking - they may have done it on purpose since we asked for airport directions. ugh!! so not only is Western Bagel full of teenage idiots, the shop exemplifies why I loathe LA.

It's a bagel. It's not rocket science. Apparently, that is not the case for the people that work at Western Bagel. Not only have I had my order incorrectly made on multiple occasions, but I have also been over charged or shorted bagels when I have purchased a dozen. The customer service is almost as great as their bagel preparing abilities. Today, for example, I was running erronds and called in a bagel that I was going to pick up. I was told it would be ready in five minutes. When I arrived at Western Bagel, my order wasn't ready. I told them I would wiat for a couple of minutes while I made it. They asked for my name that I placed the order in, yeah they couldn't even find my order. So they said they would make it while I waited. Okay. I re-gave them my order... the girl behind the counter told me "oh I just sold the last blueberry bagel to that guy" as she pointed to a guy walking out the door. GGGGGRRRR. One suggestion for the people that work there... you need a new system of how you make your orders. Have one person on the register / grabbing the bagels for people who order a dozen and then have a couple of people in line on the back counter prepping orders. There is way too much chaos behind the counter.

man, wake and bake and western bagel go together like peas and carrots. my friends and i are ALL about this place. they have bagels galore...lots of pastries...coffee...homemade cream cheese that is soooo good...and those super cute little apple juices in the bottles that look like apples! yesssss! i always get one of two things... a a plain bagel, toasted, with eggs, cheese and ketchup...OR...a plain toasted bagel with strawberry cream cheese. oh hell yea. the prices are right, the service is fast and friendly... it's located right on ventura blvd and coldwater canyon, with a cute patio in the front...so people watching is always a good time. just try something from this place, anything, i guarantee you'll love it.

I love Western Bagel. I was addicted to their cheese and onion bagels long before I moved here, and have to force myself not to frequent them more often, because if there's anything that's not great for losing weight, it's a giant bagel covered in cheddar cheese and onions and then loaded up with cream cheese. But holy hell, it's delicious... just not nutritious.

This is our first choice for kicking back with A BLC with da works. I'm actually crazzyzy enough to go with the white fish salad on a pumpernickel As mentioned in other reviews the outdoor seating is a plus. If I could justify the carb load I'd go here for every meal.

LOVE these bagels!! Service for me has always been pretty good actually. Random, but I actually started following them on Twitter, and they're starting to send free bagels and other offers out to their loyal followers every now and then and doing some other cool things!! Pretty cool thing to do if you ask me. If you love bagels, you should follow them @Westernbagel on Twitter! Never know what you might win Love this company!!!
